American movie actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was detained at Munich airport while trying to smuggle expensive watches, has been released. He was given a fine of 35 thousand euros, reports the newspaper Bild with reference to the head of the customs office of Munich Thomas Meyer.
Customs officials questioned the movie actor for three hours. According to Meyer, the customs office of Munich began an investigation into the fact of tax evasion against the 76-year-old actor. He explained that Schwarzenegger had to declare the Audemars Piguet watch as an imported import.
It is specified that the watch was valued at 26 thousand euros. In addition, the movie actor will have to pay a tax of four thousand euros and a fine of five thousand euros. Schwarzenegger could not pay with a credit card, as 50 percent of customs duties must be paid in cash. The actor was accompanied to the bank by an airport employee.
